American Idiot Album Review

As it's Saturday and most school kids love Saturdays, here is the first album review.

Green Day, three chord American punk rock band, had made it in the music industry with their hit album Dookie including songs such as Basket Case, Longview, When I Come Around and a re-recorded version of earlier hit Welcome To Paradise. Dookie was the first of many to come hit Green Day albums but later albums such as Nimrod and Warning didn't quite top Dookie. But on September 21th 2004, the band's 7th studio album was released: American Idiot. American Idiot wasn't just a hit with the fans, it has sold over 14 million albums and also ended up with four singles; American Idiot (The main single), Holiday, Boulevard Of Broken Dreams (Winner of 2005 Grammy record of the year) and Wake Me Up When September Ends. Inspired by hit English rock band The Who, the album was the band's first "rock opera" record. It follows the character Jesus Of Suburbia created by Billie Joe and Whatsername inspired by the Bikini Kill song Rebel Girl. The song She's A Rebel is pretty self explanatory I'm sure. The story of the Jesus Of Suburbia, St Jimmy and Whatsername soon became a musical that I'm seeing in late November so I can give you guys a review on that too :) The band were originally recording Cigarettes and Valentines in mid 2003 but the master tracks were sadly stolen from the studio so instead of re-recording, the band decided to record a whole new album. I'm glad though, American Idiot is my favourite album so far so I definitely recommend you buy it! I'd give it 5 stars.

That's it for American Idiot, I'm sure I could of said much more but hey, I'm not an expert :) I recommend the tracks Jesus Of Suburbia, St.Jimmy, She's A Rebel, Extraordinary Girl and... all of them!
